Casamigos Blanco Tequila 1st Quality
Casamigos is a tequila house founded by George Clooney and Rande Gerber, and Mike Meldman in 2013. It was later purchased by Diageo for up to $1 billion in 2017.
The name Casamigos is derived from the Spanish words “casa” and “amigos,” house and friends, essentially “house of friends.” The brainchild was born in Cabo San Lucas, where Gerber and Clooney were building their vacation homes and sampling tequilas. Essentially living the life of millionaires.Clooney brought up the idea of crafting their own tequilas, and they eventually commissioned a distillery in Jalisco, Mexico to produce a tequila that “tasted great and didn’t burn going down…” and gave “little hangover” the next day. The duo also wanted people to be able to drink it straight or with ice.
After ordering “a thousand bottles per year” while sampling from the distillery over a span of two years, the distillery required them to get a business, eventually turning the private tequila house public.
In Mexico, tequila distilleries are identified by their NOM, a number given by the Mexican Government to identify legal entities that produce tequila. Casamigos is produced at the Productos Finos de Agave; NOM 1416, the same distillery that makes well-known brands like Avion (the tequila created by the “Entourage” crew) and Clase Azul.
Often classified in the same area as Casa Noble Tequilas, Casamigos is crafted from agave sourced from the Highlands of Jalisco. Though the businesses success is propelled by celebrity, Clooney and Gerber have succeeded in crafting a high-quality product with sophisticated, nuanced flavors.

Just the right amount of heat. Starts out earthy, a little herby, and slightly fruity. Finishes with a burnt caramel that dances on the tongue. This is my favorite and my go-to bourbon.

I’m not one to refrigerate my bourbon, preferring a room temperature shot from time to time. The first notes of Noah’s were wonderful. There was a soft heat and the fruity notes were lovely. As time went on and we got closer to the bottom of the bottle, it heated. Harshly. We are not aficionados and perhaps didn’t treat this whiskey quite right, but that last shot was really tough. I might take to refrigerating in the future …

Hard to find this economical deliciousness in Ohio (unless departing on an Allegiant flight) and I’d rather absorb a kick in the jewels than wait in line, in the early hours, on a designated date, at an insidious liquor store that withholds (hides) the vast majority of inventory for their “buddies”. Since I’m not dependent on the juice, I’m happy and willing to wait the 4+ weeks for delivery of this reasonably priced nectar at a REASONABLE price! Thanks, Bourbon Whiskey Distillery!

My father in law searches high and low for this (and Blanton’s) each time it comes in stock locally.
